This was a high profile architect designed HQ in London with an existing Coffee bar / café that was under utilised as it was not a very inviting space and operationally did not work well for caterers. With the arrival of an additional 1,000 people to the building (2,500 staff already speread over 2 buildings) the challenge was to improve customer usage and cater for the increased numbers, as well as a discerning customer group. The end results proferred an instant increase in customer numbers, perception and spend together with vastly improving the operational aspects of the Café.
Initial proposals were developed in the spring of 2005 with detail design developed at a pace to enable orders to be placed in July 2005 for a September 2005 opening.
The Martek Ferro Design and Build team were tasked with identifying a solution to the brief that could be implemented within a tight timeframe and fixed budget without sacrificing quality. The scheme was successfully developed and managed to completion within a five-month period without innovation, style or quality being compromised.
